Equipments for Testing Stones
Equipment for testing stone according to standards, supporting laboratory measurement and quality control of natural and artificial stone.

Equipment for testing stone according to standards
Explore CEI equipment for compressive strength, abrasion resistance, flexural strength and dowel-hole breaking-load testing.

Determination of Uniaxial Compressive Strength
Purpose: To assess the compressive strength of natural or artificial stone.
Procedure: Test specimens are laid and centered on the plate of the testing press. A uniformly distributed load is applied and increased continuously until failure occurs.

Determination of Abrasion Resistance
Purpose: To assess the abrasion resistance of stone.
Procedure: The face of the specimen that will be exposed in use is abraded with an abrasive material under standard conditions.

Determination of Flexural Strength
Purpose: To assess the flexural strength of the stone under concentrated load.
Procedure: The test specimen is placed over two rollers and progressively loaded in the middle until failure occurs. The breaking load is measured and flexural strength is calculated.

Determination of Breaking Load at Dowel Hole
Purpose: To assess the breaking load around a dowel hole.
Procedure: A force is applied perpendicular to the specimen face through a dowel previously placed in a hole. The breaking load of the specimen is measured.
